The following products are recommended by LDJ Auto Body and Custom Shop for restoring your vehicle's finish. These products are professional products and should be used by those with the knowledge to use them properly. They are the best products in the business but can seriously damage your vehicle's finish if improperly applied or used. Use these items with caution and only after getting a professional and thorough explanation of their use. As with all paint restoration products, make sure to follow the manufacturer's suggested uses. Use the proper tools for the job and take the time to do all steps of any project.
BUFFING COMPOUND AND MACHINE COMPOUND
Use buffing compound to remove oxidation, small or light scratches, swirl marks, and other light finish damage. Buffing compound comes in different grades or "duties" and you should use the lightest duty compound that will achieve the desired results to avoid removing more "clear coat" than necessary.
MACHINE AND HAND GLAZE
Use machine or hand glaze to further remove swirl marks caused by buffing compound and return the clear coat to it's high gloss. Use glazes carefully as they also remove small amounts of the clear. Consult a professional for suggestions on what grade of glaze to use for the desired result. As with compound, glaze comes in a variety of "duties" and using the proper duty glaze will ensure a mirror-like, high gloss finish.
